About Us

Who Is Empower?

Our Story

Empower was founded in Haringey, London, by humanitarians and filmmakers Robbi Stevens and Abbie Elliott, who are deeply committed to inspiring children, teenagers, and young people across the UK to thrive and make a positive impact in their communities. Through powerful self-expression, dynamic collaborations, and innovative ideas, they aim to equip youth with the tools to succeed and lead change.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower and amplify the voices of young people facing a range of challenges, including unrealistic online standards, fear of the future, educational pressures, poor physical health, and the hardships of poverty which have limited their opportunities and aspirations.

Our Vision

Empower envisions a world where children, teenagers, and young people are confident, fulfilled, and equipped to overcome challenges. We aim to help them build resilience, embrace their potential, and thrive in an ever-evolving and complex world.

Our Values

Our core values—representation, collaboration, creativity, ambition, and relationship-building—guide everything we do. We are committed to creating spaces where children, teenagers and young people can connect, innovate, and express themselves freely.

Our Work

Our work spans a diverse range of award-winning films, podcasts, and spoken word projects that explore pressing, issue-driven topics in the world around us, with a particular focus on the challenges faced by young people.

Robbi Stevens is an award-winning producer, director, writer, and acting coach, known for her storytelling and humanitarian work. She has earned critical acclaim for her work in film and theatre, often focusing on the struggles and triumphs of those affected by human conflict and injustice.

In 2000, Robbi founded RAaW London, a unique film, theatre, and training company. RAaW is dedicated to creating bold, impactful film and theatre productions, while also nurturing the next generation of artists. The company combines creative work with an emphasis on actor training, offering a space for actors to explore and develop their craft through Robbi's own acting method, The Stevens Technique, helping them overcome mental blocks and build empathy, self-confidence, and emotional availability in their performances.

In addition to her creative and teaching roles, Robbi has also volunteered with multiple humanitarian organizations, further reflecting her commitment to both art and social change.

Abbie Elliott

Abbie Elliott is a producer, writer, photographer and acting coach. Alongside Robbi, Abbie runs RAaW London, working to platform young people and their ideas in film and theatre. As part of this, Abbie shares her industry knowledge, teaching young actors about auditions and on-set etiquette to bridge the gap between training and working.

She is currently in post-production for two films she co-wrote with Robbi, and produced, Kelechi and IC3. These films will be working with Empower in the future.

With a passion for conservation, Abbie has travelled to multiple continents to photograph and interact with local wildlife.
