THE EMPOWER

SCHOOLS CAMPAIGN

Schools are the best place to build radically different futures.

What is The Empower Schools Campaign?

We are campaigning for Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) and Personal and Social Education (PSE) to be funded, supported and instilled much more in the curriculum.

We want:

  1. One hour of weekly PSE and RSE should be made compulsory for Key Stages 2, 3, 4 and 5.

  2. RSE and PSE need to be co-designed with youth in a participatory way.

Action Plan

  • Our strengths lie in young people and film-making. We are looking for charities, teachers, community and educational groups, youth representatives and anti-VAWG representatives to support our campaign from different perspectives.

  • We are approaching MPs, Ministers, Baronesses and Lords ahead of the election.

  • We are platforming a group of young people, The Empower Youth Board, by allowing them to have their voices heard and impact a case that directly affects them.

  • We are utilising The Nightingale, a short film made by the founders of Empower, to allow people to understand the long-term impacts of rape and sexual assault.

  • We have created a podcast to give a platform to survivors to share their stories and help others.

How Can I Help?

We need to show that this is a cause that matters to a lot of people. The more supporters behind the campaign, the louder our voice becomes!

“I believe the change we need to see must start in the education system at a young age. It is a huge gap in the education framework and including it will have an enormous impact on children’s development and changing harmful norms that are currently threatening women, girls and young boys."
